Calendar Event: October 19, 2008

Hey guys and girls,

We are pleased to announce dates for the 2008 Auckland Mountain Bike Club Champs. As per previous years, Best three results from the four races are counted towards your series total. You must start the final round and 2 other rounds to be eligible.

Dates as follows:
Round 1: Sunday 17th August 2008 Woodhill
Round 2: Sunday 21st September 2008 Hunua
Round 3: Sunday 19th October 2008 McNut Farm, Helensville
Round 4: Sunday 16th November 2008 A still secret venue starting with W.....

Changes this year include:
- Prize money down to 5th place in open mens, open woman, and single speed classes. 1st=$180, 2nd=$120, 3rd=$80, 4th=$60, 5th=$40, a total pool of $480 per round!!
- New points system, 1 point per place of finish, ie: 1st=1 point, 2nd=2 points, 3rd= 3 points... This should encourage competition further down the series to the bitter end.

There will be 18 classes , Expert Men (4 age group classes), Expert Open Woman, Sport Men (2 age group classes), Sport Woman (2 age group classes), Junior (3 classes for male and female), Recreational class (Men and Woman) and of course .....Singlespeed
(Note: Final classes will be determined by series entries. Age groups and classes (Sport/ Expert) maybe consolidated after discussion with entrants at the first round to achieve classes of at least 5 riders.)

Something for every one, and a great opportunity to ride at 4 venues on trails you may not normally do in the Auckland area.... and James and Kris get to show off their brilliant trail building at Hunua.....

Watch this space for more information.....

Hey all, 2 rounds to go for the spring series....plenty of points up for grabs, especially when you drop the worst round!!

Open men is 1 round each to Patrick Avery from Roto vegas and Brad Tilby who both walked away with a nice take home pay for their days work at Woodhill and Hunua respectively. Close behind are Dirk Peters, Adrian Retief and Matt Treanor.

Less than 8 points seperate Open Women with Adrienne Hooper, Monique Avery, Katie O'Neil, Megan Dimozantos and Sadie Parker-Wynyard all looking for good points in the remaining rounds.

Turquoise Warrior (Mike May) has one hand on the First prize free entry into the Speights NZ Single Speed Society Champs at Rotorua next year. The mighty warrior has a handy lead over Morgan Wilson, Jesse Voza, and Hayden Russell in Single Speed.

This weekend is a great opportunity to ride on the backyard of Rob Garden and Elite Orienteering Mountain Bike Champ Marquita Gelderman.

There is one 7.5km loop catering for rec through to expert men....weather will be great... see you then.
