The Press | Tuesday, 14 October 2008

A Christchurch house-hunter got a viewing more suited to a horror movie when he uncovered a container of body parts.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Johnson, of the Christchurch police, said a man found the body parts on Saturday while viewing a house to rent in Waltham.

He found a plastic container that held a lower left leg with the foot attached, and a right foot.

"Initially, this was dealt with as a crime scene, but expert opinion was that the limbs had been surgically removed," Johnson said.

Police had identified the owner of the limbs and nothing sinister had occurred, he said.
"This was a particularly unusual set of circumstances which we dealt with seriously until inquiries identified the owner ... and the circumstances proved to be not of a criminal nature."

They're not really telling the whole story are they? My best guess - the current house owner is a pirate who lost his lower legs during a swordfight in the Artic circle. Luckily he could get them on ice and is selling the house to pay for the surgery to have them attached - avast!

A house warming gift. It comes with a pre prepared murder scene, so you don't have to wait for the neighbourhood P heads to come on in to slaughter your nearest and dearest. Double Thumbs Up How progressive.
