Calendar Event: October 18, 2008 - October 19, 2008

Southstar is in Christchurch this weekend, running one shuttle bus (30 riders + bikes). Saturday's trial went well so we can give you some more information about how Sunday will run:

First uplift will leave at 9:30am, turn around is 45 minutes so the bus will be leaving approx 10:15am, 11:30am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm, 2:15pm and 3:30pm. Please keep in mind that these times are approximate and it would pay to be earlier rather than later.

The bus and trailer cannot safely turn around in the Bowenvale carpark so the pick up point will be few hundred metres down Bowenvale just past the intersection with Dalefield Drive (the bus turns in this intersection.)

Drop off at the top of Vic Park.

Shuttle costs will be $10 -1 uplift, $30 - 6 uplift card. Just for this weekend we won't be sellling the 100 uplift cards, but providing the trial goes well these will be on sale the following week.

I know we're generally unloved, but any thoughts of doing this in Auckland?

Cool! I wasn't expecting this. I've used Southstar at Rotorua. The bus and trailer is top notch. I guess this is bad news for the guys planning to set this up locally - but I suspect their impetus was more out of personal need that any hope of financial gain so hopefully this is good news to them too.

I hope the trial goes well. If this becomes a permanent fixture I may well be looking at buying myself a downhill rig this summer:)

$30 seems a bit pricey for 6 runs when you have a van/ bus full of people when D days were only 20 for all day runs but a shuttle service is good to have

This weekend is a trial - Jeff needs to work lots of stuff out (turn around times etc.) before he confirm what the pricing plans are.

The Southstar service in Rotorua has a 100 uplift ticket for $200 which is awesome value for money in my mind. Cross fingers the same can be done down here.

D days are volunteer efforts. This is trying to be a viable business. They're gotta make money or theres no point. If noone supports it, the trial will fail and they won't come back, so you won't have to worry about it.

And D-Days don't usually cover our costs and thats without paying for drivers!
