Danzig Track Loving This Sunday

Postby Hoz on Fri 10/Oct/08 9:33am

Hey, for anyone keen to help we are continuing with our Danzig maintenance this Sunday. We are digging off the big ruts formed during the ultra wet winter/spring this year and improving drainage as we go.

Meet Sunday at 9 am at the car park at the end of Stratton St, below my Rangers office.

We have grubbers, rakes etc and gloves for those who want them. Last week we made it 2/3rds of the way up to the green hut. This week we want to reach the hut and create a new uphill section of Danzig just above it to separate Danzig from the Slide Track.

Thanks heaps to the crew who turned up in bad weather last weekend.

Cheers, Hoz (Ranger, Belmont Regional Park)

Great dig today Hoz, amazing how much new track we managed to get done in a couple of hours, that soft soil makes a refreshing change from the rock of Makara Peak although you'll be busy with the gravel in there I should think!

And my goodness <SOON TO BE OPENED; STILL SEMI-SECRET TRACK> is stunning, an awesome gradient and smooth. Looking forward to that being finished off and opened, definitely worth the trip up to the Park just to ride that.

Great work out there, it's awesome to see such exceptional track being built

Was good to lay down some new trail today.

Yep - a real hoot. A bit more work and it should be rocking fun for all.

So much potential out there. Just needs peeps to help dig (especailly before the race).

Craig....mate are you still in the states or what? Your project is lying dormant but another DH Craig is working on the Fenceline track (south side) for us.

We'll have a link of Big Weta onto the end of yours, which can then be linked past 5.1 dirt jumps to Fenceline. Or via my rockgarden link back onto Big Weta.

Rode Choppers track last night and need some more diversion around some fallen trees...headin' up to that this arvo. Startin' to get a network thing coming together...sweet

Yeah, still in the states, trying to get through the north before it snows big.
Sounds like things are coming along nicely in Belmont,Big weta sounds interesting,is that the track you started first?
I'm missing track building, bought a fold up shovel the other day so me and the kids can build kickers :)

nice one...bet you're having a sweet trip. Be a few stories to tell when ya return no doubt.

Nah, Big Weta started out as the bypass on the lower Slide chute but is evolving into a trail in its own right. Awesome flow to it. When it's finished it'll start at the top of the hill and end near the woolshed gate. That other project is on the back-burner but gets the occasional dig. We finished the extra 200m extension at the bottom of Danzig which came out pretty sweet....lot of work so it should have!
