My folks were the same with my sister. Then they tried to run my wedding. They got un-invited to it.

I havent spoken to my sister again and only see my father 1 or 2 times a year. Life is so much easier now.

It can be over-rated. I get on very well with the wifes folks.

Jesus, how do I make sure my kids don't come out like this?

Currently I shout at them a bit and sometimes chase the 7yr old flicking a tea-towel at her bum, so hopefully thats a start.

At 28 I consider myself to be extremely lucky to still have both sets of grandparents. They're awesome! [wOOt 4 grandparents]

On the other hand some of my aunties are perhaps the most miserable examples of humanbeings I have ever known: e.g one sleeps with her husbands bro, get's pregnant, leaves husband and shacks up with brother and pretends everythings fine, then expects sympathy when he decides he's had enough and runs off with someone else.

Man, you think you have problems. Check out this brief description of one of my sisters ( the rest of us are completely normal in comparison)

Is in late 30's
Has never had full time employment
Hasn't had any sort of employment for 15 years
has 3 kids
Husband is a dope head
Husband started first job 2 years ago
Hunts possums for a hobby
Resembles a clampett with large lard intake
Has no natural teeth

Yet, her children are great kids, and the eldest, who is 16, is in the top 2% of NZ in several subjects.

Now, what infuriates me the most, is that she is absolutely comfortable with her life and the fact that the rest of us have been working like nutters paying tax for her to live her life.

Sometimes, it occurs to me that I am a complete sucker

Sad

you little tihs.

Think about all they did for you growing up. the hours and money they put into you for you to just discard them. You little kcufer. If you were my kid Id feel like I'd failed.

Its not cool to hate your parents at your age champ

HTFU and make amends

How do the words...."my mother ruined my wedding, so I am going to ruin yours" sound?

We never did view our wedding video, never bothered to eat the tihsty cake that we didn't like, and to be honest, the only true thing of value to us that day was the wedding vows. I wouldn't let anyone mess with those, and that is what truly counts.

14 years and two wonderful daughters later, we are still together, still love each other, and are now looking at having the in laws move onto the same property as us, although....it is a large lifestyle block, so they'll still be not too close.....
