Well it all goes to show how parc TVNZ is anyway. Stop paying the top people too much money and use that for better channels and coverage!

Um, I think they would put it on if they thought they could sell advertising. I'm sure the people who roller blade, play volleyball or squash want more of their sport on too.

Yeah top idea paying management a pittance. That will drive a quality performance in a company.

Well the fact remains the majority of sports coverage on standard network telly is rugby (not that that's a bad thing). The comment was more general than focused on cycling itself Smile And the comment about pay was more to do with people like presenters getting paid in the region of $250k a year...bollix. But its not really relevant to the thread anyways Double Thumbs Up

We just spent the whole Olympics rubbishing the quality of the commentators. Perhaps the full time ones earn their pay. Bit like Management, good people are a rare commodity and if they don't earn mega bucks will gladly jump ship.

How about we tell TVNZ to actually make use of their Sport Extra channel on Freeview?

There is NOTHING on it at the moment. Why bother setting up a TV channel if you can't afford to buy some content?

Has he confirmed which team he's riding for yet? I thought I heard that Contador had said he'd leave Astana if LA came in?

Its funny how nobody ever asked the question of lemod after his come back before all this testing came in to place. Me thinks he does protest to much...

And he's got to be ssiped at the whole Lemod bikes thing.

Why would Jorge even put out a statement like that? Tour of Wellington clashes with the TDU and since the UCI sets the calendar of events it classifys I can't see how he could shift the date of his tour "at the drop of a hat" without the approval of the UCI or risk losing the status of the race which is going to do it more long term harm I'd think than getting Astana here for a one-off appearance. Eh?

i guess he would be counting on the huge increase of media exposure that astana/armstrong would being. raising the event profile significantly, and i am assuming extra revenue for him through additional sponsers getting involved.

good on him if it works out for him.

LeMOnd needs to get together with Pound and together they can stew in their own juices. Pound seems to have as bi a chip as Le MOnd.

Also just read that Armstrong has bought into SRAM
