Got my hands on a SPOT satellite messenger for the weekend. It has a tracking option which sends a GPS location every 10 mins. This allowed my wife to track me in real time as we went around Long Bays on Sat morning.

I took it again yesterday when I went Dyers -> Gebbies -> Basdrat and back hm but I accidently covered it up with my spare cycling top and it missed alot of transmissions..

Remember the difference between the SPOT and a Garmin for example is that the GPS data is transmitted from the SPOT to a satellite and then displayed real time, compared to the Garmin which can display the data once the ride is completed and downloaded.

The SPOT also has an "I'm OK", "I need Help" and "911" emergency buttons. The 911 button goes directly to Search and Rescue.. kinda cool for mtb biking and tramping etc

Anyway you can see my tracking data at:

"sales pitch" I can get these if anyone is keen !

It allows your wife to track your GPS in real time.... not you.

Hand the transmitter off to someone else to do a circuit and you can happily go get your clock cleaned at the knock shop. * Double Thumbs Up

* I have no idea what this euphemism means, I'm sure it is something nice about punch and pie.
