It's a good price. I bought an 08 in April as part of a two-bike package for just under that when the list price was $5700. I question the list price of Specialized bikes even if Shepherds position them as a premium marque.

The Roubaix Expert is a sweet ride. I see them as an endurance model ideal for mucho miles but still very capable of racing. I love mine. The only thing I've replaced is the tyres. I had one of the dodgy Pro tyres blow out through the tread in my first race when it was virtually new. It was replaced no problemo but has put me off Specialized tyres.

4k is a good price for that bike , they ride very nicely, that said I'd be swapping the tyres out before the bike leaves the shop, either some michelins, conti's or vittoria's

Do the bike shops generally replace the tires or is it something i would have to pay extra for? just wondering how the speshy tires compare to one of those you recommended.

At a sale or deal price like that, it is more likely that you will be charged an upgrade price for new tyres, from memory (when I worked in a shop selling specialized) RRP was about $49.90 each for the Speccy tyres

Just wondering how far to negotiatiate at that price...

I think so given every other bike they sell will (on average) ususally come with pedals.

Not neccesarily, at the higher end a lot of bikes don't come with pedals. And if you're already getting a decent discount on the bike they might not be that keen on chucking them in free.

Congrats! I can say welcome to the club now since I've had mine all of 5 days Tongue it

Took mine for its inaugural ride on saturday, 22km's around the Miramar peninsular. What struck me was on sunday I had no muscle aches or pains at all. Having not been on any bike in 9 months, let alone 15 years off a roadie, I thought that was a real testament to the Roubaix's ride quality and fit Double Thumbs Up
