Hey guys. New to this forum but thats not the point. Currently doing a uni project and i need to collect data and information.

I just have one simple question and that is what does mountain biking provide for you? (eg. fitness, catching up with mates, adrenaline rush, g-force, stress release or what you like about mountain biking etc.) Whatever the answer may be please leave your replies =) No need to write an essay just a couple of lines or sentences.

Thanks in advance for those who leaves their comments. Cheers.

I like being able to challenge myself, skill-wise, and also fitness-wise. Being able to push my boundaries.

catching up with mates, fitness, the challenge and satisfaction of nailing a difficult section, speed and adreniline rush, talking bikes, buying bling, stress relief away from work, riding high above chch on a frosty night with the city lights below, discovering new single track, getting away to cool and remote places on the bike...

I could go on all day, but off for a ride Smile

I guess mountian biking takes up a good chunk of my life when you add in the fact that I work in the bicycle industry.

What do I get out of it?

Fun, I've met some really great people through MTB, perosnal challenge, be it cleaning a line or section of track that I havn't been able to, to having specific goals for events (ie to ride for a certian time / distance)

Mountian biking is alos one of the very few sports that I can think of that can be very social, very focused on groups teams and huge events (several hundred or more even into the thousands) of people in one place. But yet if I want to I can take my MTB and go and ride in the hills for 6 hours not see a single person and have a great day

I also love the techy / geeky side of MTB, all of the parts and bits do keep me very interested (and keep me very broke Sad )

I think thats about it Double Thumbs Up

I love going out riding with my Daughters.
Enjoy the challenge of being in the bush on some challenging piece of track.
You meet some fantastic like minded people.
You do not have to keep filling up the petrol tank.
It motivates you to get out there amonst it and just put day to day things on hold.

Total enjoyment and you lose a few pounds of the waist line to boot Double Thumbs Up

MTBing's about life and its all positive Smile

personal progession & the social aspect are what the MTBing buzz is to me

the funny thing is, as I'm getting older (30 next year) when I could be starting to take a more mellow approch to progessing, I find myself pushing the envelope harder than I ever have before, Its paying off & I'm loving ever minite of it.
I think that play a huge part in keeping up my passion for the sport,

I'm also lucky to live in a place where MTBing has a huge following, & is very social, I can't remember the last time I went for a ride by myself, having a good crew to charge with makes riding a thousand times better.

to me theres nothing better than hanging out & DJing with the crew at gorge rd on a warm, summer evening, or sinking a few cold ones on the deck at coronet peak after a wicked days riding, Double Thumbs Up Smile

My favorite bit of mountain biking is that it works so well as a tool of worship, no where else can you take in so much of the wonders of creation, with such little amounts of man made material surrounding you.

On the side I have also made so many mates mountain biking, that I have barely any mates outside of the sport, so when I go weeks without riding due to being stuck in the ghetto, there is a lonliness begging me to go to Vegas or something to catch up with everyone and go for a steam.

i love mtb because its the fact that its you and ya mates and you push yourself and the bikes like an extension of yourself.

the way we try so hard, the fact that we could crash so hard we never get up again

born to bike , forced to work

MTBing is about the only form of exercise I really enjoy and it challenges me constantly as well as providing a bit of adrenalin.
Plus I can exercise my dog at the same time... 2 birds with one stone.
It's fun AND good for you... what more could you want?
