What do you pay for a set of Gravity Lights? The carbon ones look pretty cool but do they last?

So nobody knows what I should pay for Gravity Light bars? I measured my bars and they are 650mm with 40mm rise and 65mm stem... I was thinking 710 bars would be plenty wide enough?

I would say 45-65mm Funn or thompson x4 stem and Funn bars. For you just the 710 funn fullon on 25mm rise will do.

bout 130-150 for gravity lights. They are the wide bars i has on the horse. I find they dont have asmuch upsweep as the funns which im not so fussed about but nothing else comes out as 780mm wide atm.

Carbons RRP $280, Alloy $135 RRP

The carbon risers last, providing that they don't get big garks in them (from shuttles or big crashes) and like any bar if they have a few big crashes I reckon its time to put them in the bin and buy a new set

I've got Chromag Fubars on my SS and at full width (710mm) they are really strong. No flexing while wrenching on bars . . .

I never thought much about stems, but recently I decided I would try one that was 10mm longer. My mate had an old Controltech one lieing around.

I noticed it was welded at each end, not cast in one piece. It was also a bit heavier

Big difference! So much more solid when I stood up to pedal. I like it.

So when did stems start being cast, not welded?

The good once are CNC machined billet, not cast. But I don't think it was the fact that it was welded that made your stem so strong, probably just that your other one was really bad. It is about getting the right cross section in the torsional area. For example my stem currently is like three tubes attached (actually cast) together. The long thinner tube section going out to the bars is quite flexible. You can measure it bending with a dial gauge! The one on my DH bike is like a solid block with two holes drilled in it and it hardly moves...
