the thing that is going to be hard for riders doing all the series north and south will be having pretty much no good break in between the races. Deunedin should be the week before coronet peak not two weeks before. It just means we have to screw round down south waiting for the next round. The line up of races looks mint as though...
Another event to keep in mind during the SI DH Cup is the Coronet Peak Brake Burner, which is happening on Feb 7th, Waitangi weekend.
This is the reason for the 2 week break between Dunedin and Coronet.
I guess this is the down side of having a summer packed with good racing. Bikenz get rubbished for the long gap, but if the the Dunedin race clashed with the brake burner would that be better? I don't think so.
IMO they have not done too bad for the south island dates, you'll just have to have some more time riding in otago before the coronet race, I could think of much worse was to spend a couple of weeks.

yea thats complete tihs. whoever made those downhill south island dates needs to be shot. wata drater having them 4 weeks in between each race. having to make three seperate trips down and then another for national champs. can bikenz not think? a pack of kcids if u ask me
Umm, bit of a geography lesson for you young Barrett.
NZ is comprised of two islands, the north and the south.
While yes, the upcoming program does favour those in the south island (as the northerners have to make seperate trips), if one can remember back to last summer, the southerners had to do the same.
ie - one year it favours the northerners, the next it favours the southerners. It what some people call "fair"

"down south" is the best freeride/dh area in nz, a 2 week holaday is a mean idea
Interesting they are going to hold a XC race in Timaru
Interesting in what way? The series this year has got to be good for you folk down in Otago. Only fair since last year it favoured Christchurch riders with 2 rounds on our own turf.

I wouldnt have thought the tracks in Timaru are up to Nationals standard

It is getting harder and harder every year for event organisers to find a date that does not clash with something, and it generally now comes down to "which event are we most prepared to clash with"
