Whaka 100
Saturday 4th October, 2008.

The Big One. 100km of riding over a course that is predominantly single track. There is nothing else like it in New Zealand.

Now in its second year we have slightly reformatted the event for 2008. Three courses will be offered: 25km, 50km and 100km. Plus a teams event with a 60km/40km split.

Regardless of what course you decide to race one thing is guaranteed: you will be racing in the best mountain bike venue in New Zealand. Forest roads, views and sweet single track set this event off from anything else on the race calendar.

Check out http://www.n-duro.co.nz/whaka/ for more information.

Apparently the map will be up later in the week for this race.

There will prolly be a bunch of hard-outs making the trip to vegas for this race... should be interesting.

Who else is entered for this?

I was actually in Vegas for the last one - I had just built up the Reign and decided a weekend in vegas was on the cards. At the time 100Ks seemed like quite a massive undertaking.

Funny how perspectives change.

Yeah, right you are.

The teams transition part confused me. Blush

Looks like there is less pushing in this one, and no nasty greasy steps... might be able to give sub 5 hours a nudge if I'm on my game

Laugh Out Loud
PBR could be right, just not real obvious with the yellow squiggle next to the HQ box. But probably the best answer if its is starting and finishing at the main carpark area again. Looks like a good long workout, with loads of cool trails.

looks like the same trails as last year just starting in a different place so that would make 6 climbs + the sealed climb

the climbs are
1 - lakefront & tikitapu Rds
2 - lookout Rd
3 - Moerangi Rd
4 - Hill Rd & frontal
5 - Pipeline & direct Rds
6 - lyon Trail & Katore Rd
7 - the seal on Nursery Rd & Radio hutt

Meh, numbers 1 and 7 are not really climbs IMO.

Just little bits where you ride up a wee bit Big Grin
