I had an 07 Expert - weighed in at 29.5lb without pedals in the shop.
I swapped out the rear wheel (stock 07 expert came with low level deore paperweight hub) for a hope proII/DT4.2 combo, converted to DT Swiss tubeless system with Nobby Nic 2.4F/2.25R, and changed seatpost/seat/bars for some carbon blingy bits. Ended up just under 28lb (12.7kg).

How accurate do you want it-I could weigh mine but it would be with dodgy scales. I'd say mine would be somewhere around 29 lbs...

My opinion of the bike is that it is easily the best bike that I have ever had (disclaimer: I haven't had a DH bike and I don't do mad hucks etc...) It's good for stuff like Billy T at Rotorua, climbs well for what it is. For what I want to do, it's a good bike, and that's what you look for when you buy a bike isn't it?

What's amusing is the amount of COMPLETE parc (I'm sure some of you will include this post among this, but he did ask for opinions) that is written about them on the forums (and some magazines too). Stuff like "there's not much mud clearance on that fork" (I run a 2.35 nevegal on mine, really, if it's muddy enough to clog that up, I'd feel bad about doing that much damage to the track). Or my favourite-"it won't go around corners with the triple clamp fork"-that's BS, it goes around switchbacks no worries. Etc etc.

I have had some suspension issues with mine, but I bought it knowing that, and knowing that they would be sorted out quickly (which they have been).

I think it's 2.2 pounds to a kg roughly? That'd make it about 13 kg?

If you buy it new from a dealer, you should get a 5 year warranty from them. I wouldn't buy one without that...

(edit) didn't see the one on trademe you were looking at, definitely make sure you can get a warranty with that if you buy it, if you can, then that would be a very good deal.

I did think about the Sanction as well, they look like a nice bike (but from the information I had at the time, there were at least as many issues with RS Lyriks as there were with enduro suspension), and I thought it was more bike than I really wanted or needed.

Excellent Bike - but make sure you're covered for any suspension issues. I had a first generation 07 Expert and ended up getting a refund from the shop after 7 months because of repeated issues - even after they replaced the fork with 08 internals. Went through three forks and two rear shocks - and that was mostly general trail riding.

That said it was the sweetest handling trail / AM bike I've owned - and handled and climbed better than the Hecker I had before it. Took it up to Rotovegas last year and it loved tracks like Billy T, Nats, Hot X Buns, Gunna Gotta, etc.

Since I had mine Specialized has upgraded the fork warranty to 5 years, and as far as I know the later 08/09 models have been relatively problem free. If you can get it at a good price to cover possible fork issues I'd go for it.

Lurve my SL Comp (weight around 30-31 lbs) without looking at the trade me listing (site banned here at work Sad I'd agree if you can get the warranty transferred to you and the price is right then buy it. Have had mine since mid 07, have had the o8 fork and shock upgrade and have been extremely happy ever since, I absolutely love the e150 fork and am stoked I've got it since they will no longer be spec'ing them apart from the 09 S works.
