Hey guys,

I'm considering a lengthy trip out to NZ from Canada over winter and I'm wondering what's the best place to centralize myself to great DH riding and DH racing? The closer to trails the better!!! I'm hoping you guys can help me out... Thanks.

queenstown would be a good place to base yourself.
excellent access to a wide range of shuttleable DH trails & home to coronet peak ski resort, which is open for 3 months over summer with lift accessed DH trails
also has a couple of world class jump parks too if your into that

as for basing youself for racing, the NZ race scene is quite spead out, theres a round of the south island cup at coronet peak, plus a few other local races over the course of the summer
Queenstown has a really good crew of riders that come here for summer, everyones amped & charging, its a cool scene to be part of Double Thumbs Up

still a good call for work though
there's work on the vineyards out at gibbston valley, but that still 25 mins out of town so you'd need some motor wheels to get there Smile

Christchurch is really good. There are mint shuttleable DH tracks in Victoria park that are challenging and it's a good place to improve at riding steep rocky stuff. There are also a few local races here. Nelson and queenstown are really good to.
