Antique Riders are a group of 11 enthusiastic, energetic, mature athletes, one female and 10 males, average age 69+, will be cycling from Cape Reinga to Bluff from 6 October to 20 October and they are looking for your support now.

The group all have extensive cycling experience at both international and national events, including the Tour of Britain, the Tour of Ireland, the Speights Coast to Coast, Source to Sea, Le Race and Around Brunner Cycle Ride. One of the team is a World Masters Games representative.

Antique Riders team leader Bryan Mullaly says, "We were looking for a challenge and decided cycling from Cape Reinga to Bluff would be an exciting adventure. Our aim is to promote cycling and encourage people to become more physically active, particularly at an older age. As St John have always been very supportive to our sport attending major cycling events and on many occasions attending to injured cyclists roadside we felt strongly we would like to support St John and make our ride a fundraiser for them.

The cycle fundraiser is an exciting event, says St John Marketing and Communications Director Brian Scott.

St John is in nearly every community across New Zealand, and the cyclists journey across the country will take them to many of them. St John will be supporting and welcoming the cyclists as they travel across the country, and we hope that the communities they pass through will join us in celebrating their achievement.

Brian says as a charitable organisation, St John is always grateful for the hard work and generosity of all those who fundraise for us. Their support allows us to continue to service the communities of New Zealand.
