your screwed. You will have to buy a whole new top crown/ steerer tube, and given there from 04, it may be hard finding a replacement.

Can't you just get a new steerer pressed in?

My mate bent his steerer and got another one pressed in quite cheap.

just go to your local metalworkers and buy a couple inches of 1 1/8" tube and mig weld it on. RANGI AS BRO

But seriously, hit up Rick @ Krankin and see if he can sort you out with a new steerer (don't weld a tube on. really don't.)

Of course it is champ, you've cut it to the length of your headtube. No matter if you take away all the spacers, or get a low stack height stem it's still gonna be too short.

You need a new steerer.

get a bike shop to contact Wide Open for you.
I had a customer who had a steerer replaced, and including getting it fitted to the forks I think it was around $150

Alternatively, if you're going to get it wrong, cut it too long!!!

I measured my last one about 4 times and still managed to cut it too long - d'oh!

It actually pays to think about stuff too. You can measure something really really accurately as many times as you like, but if it's the wrong thing then you're still screwed Tongue it

Or you could get some threads cut into the steerer and run it old skool with a threaded headset and quill stem
