I thought horses had to be called poncy names like "Her Ladyship Britannia the Gallant" or stupid pun names like "Running on Empty"?

I have renamed him "Deathfang" and have been trying to train him to attack people who wear ties but I am concerned that being called "Ian" has permanently damaged his doggie sense of self worth.

Your thoughts?

Ian is a cruel name to give a person, let alone a dog. I agree with renaming him Deathfang. In defence of the Blind Foundation, I think they probably try not to repeat names... So they might be running out. Ian is a bit hard to swallow though.

One of my friends has a Chowchow named Kaliope (cal-eye-oh-peee). Her husband has taken to calling her eepeep Big Grin

Its a fine name for an obviously floppy happy dog like a lab... Personally I would have called him Snoop-a-looop

I realise that the Blind Foundation tries to expose their guide dogs to as many varied and potentially stressful situaitons as possible... But they must have fantastic faith in Deathfang's temprament to be willing to risk exposing him to Tama.

Heh, our golden lab's breeding name was Lord Scrimshaw of Foggy Hill.

But we just called him Spike. Smile

At least Iain (Scottish version, not Ian) has a real name, not like some of the poor puppies...

And they have to be introduced to very stressful situations, and Tama's feet pretty much fits the bill. Next week, it's his personality, and that's when the puppy will fail.

Ian is fine.
I have named our dogs after actors they look and act like.
Jackie Chan - Jack Russel Terrier
Walter Mathau - Newfoundland
Copernicus - Miniture Schnauzer
Martin Luther King - Black Labrador
Ben Johnson - Whippet
Elvis - Basset Hound

Any name is better than Spot or Rover or Dog
