Whoa, thats some nasty carnage dude. Get well soon.
I quite often worry about that sort of thing happening to me when I am out 4 wheeling, just because you are travelling slowly doesn't mean others are

that 4WD needs bullbars, would have reduced the damage some what
just kidding
hope you recover well mate, & hope it doesn't put you off bombing fire roads, there to much fun
Knew a guy had the same type of accident on the Karapoti but the 4WD had bullbars, he was seriously injured and almost died through loss of blood, got a piece of broken bullbar in him, broken femur and pelvis. There happened to be a forestry helicopter nearbye that got him to hospital luckily.
Bullbars suck, they're dangerous in all accidents.

Jesus, hope you recover quick. Just curious, did you not hear the 4WD at all? I would have assumed they'd be loud enough for at least some warning, but perhaps not?
You really mashed up that truck. You gotta be proud to have done that much damage on just a mountain bike.
Just out of interest, who is going to pay for all the fixing up? Is it down to each of you to sort your own repairs? ACC will patch you up but what about your bike and his truck?
