Hopefully someone here can help me...
got a short vid of some biking and I want to get just a photo out of it, is there a free movie editoring program that has this sort of a feature, if so what do you recomend?

Windows movie maker has a still feature somewhere. i'm not going to explain though.

try videolan.org for their player. has a snapshot function. Or, media player classic does too.

And just one more for today. this was taken on my way to work in January. I just stopped on the side of the Motorway, jumped out took the photo, and carried on my way, before any cyclists caught up and told me off for blocking the lane. :-)
