Its on dirt, yes, but so is Cyclecross. Is it the technical challenge? Is it being in the great outdoors? What say yee, Vorbsters?

For me and many others, building and maintaining trails is an integral part of MTB that probably makes it different from many other sports, or even other types of cycling. There's nothing quite like riding the tracks you and your mates have built.

My wheels don’t seem to touch the track
As I fly through the wind.
When I look down,
The track flashes by.
When I look up,
The world is slow motion again,
And I swerve a corner,
Almost floating.

you're a stronger man than me - last major head first off I was majorly ssiped off at putting a scratch in my Brikos Angry . People seemed surprised given that I'd just gone a large distance downhill using my head as a battering ram and escaped with only minor bruising and scratches otherwise, but as you say, flesh is free (and briko endure lenses ain't cheap)

er, http://freepoemsonline.blogspot.com/2007/12/free-poems-riding-my-bike.blahblahblah

OK, this time without plagurising from a 10 year old:

1. Coming to a steep climb that you 'can't do', hitting the lung busting redzone for a few moments and scrambling over the top while still on your bike! - Remember the first time you climbed the top of Worsleys with no dismounts Smile

2. Going over the lip of a drop that is 'too steep', hanging as far back over the seat as you can, and nailing it!

3. Being far away from you nagging wife / screaming kids, with your cellphone 'accidentally' turned off Satan
