Yeah. Im not the fastest rider don here but I get along with everyone and thats one of the reasons the lbs sponsered me. i feel for Ride Cycles trying to be nice to a kid and help him out and he turns around and stabbs them in the back. Not cool. You got what you deserved spikey!

Skill isnt everything, its helps but a good attitude will help you alot!

Double Thumbs Up

well!! My thread started off as a congratulations to the NZ BMX Olympics team and ended up offering every one a lesson in the future how not to act as a respected/sponsored rider and that not just skill but attitude is a big part of the bmx/bike industry!.
cheerz every1!

I think its a shame, how this turned out..... Spread more love people.... Free love ..... peace and harmony ............

Im proof that getting sponsored is not all about being the best rider (although not got anything in NZ yet)... Its about helping people out, having a love for being on a bike and helping whoever is helping you sell some stuff.... its basically PR, and if your doing your job its sometimes hard work.

Eg help out building trails - and wear your sponsors kit while you do it. help people who are new (those of you with tiny wee willies might call it making friends with the Groms), only accept sponsorship from a brand you believe in (or you will feel like a kcid promoting their product), Travel far to little local races (ie if you live in dunedin try racing a Nelson winter DH), Sponsorship is about what you can do for the sponsor - they dont need to help you out.

cheers mate! i know exactly where ur comming from and am also dissapointed at the result of this thread but it has also brought to light some good and valuable lessons!!
and i also want to point out that Ride Cycles is a good shop and were very haisty on pulling spikey up!.
hopefully because of spikey's poor attitude this doesnt damage their reputation and i will still recomend them to any1 out that way Smile
Happy riding

As a shop owner myself I really feel for Ride Cycles. He doesnt have to help out young riders but he choses to and gets kicked in the nuts for it.

I say keep going to Ride Cycles as they sound like a cool shop.

Yea Ride Cycles is a awsome shop very easy to relate to. Please dont stop going there because of spicky being a roznuc. His atitude dose not reflect those who work there.
