Steve's easy response is that many frames still use allen key bolt to attach the stays. Perhaps some people like riding a saddle the is off skew??? Perhaps it helps riding the bends.

Musket has suggested that there is nothing in our store that people cannot get from the Net. Very true but then you miss on my wonderful service and outgoing personality.

I'm a picky bugger and don't like Genius Bikes being speced with AC wheels or the square taper Most cranks on some Pinarellos and will happily say this to customers and constantly hound the suppliers to make imprivements for next season.

But these are side issues. We were arguing about a very expensive track frame. And I pointed out that you can buy complete bikes for the same price.

I sent several people to John Bull in Christchurch to buy Avanti's last year as we couldn't get any track bikes at anywere near the same price.

Hopefully this year I will have some Apollo's at a decent price and better sell them or my kcids on the chopping block.

Fergie - some of the frames you have in store that "don't" have allen bolts at the stay simply have lots of paint hiding them...

If you're going to partially quote from a pm thread you started with me, quote the whole thing.

Interesting to see the absence of big named bikes on the track at the Olympics.
Is anyone racing a Trek around the track anymore?

Not so much.

Loads of Pina's, BT's, Teschner's, and a few Avantis, along with the other usual suspects.

Well this thread is pretty depressing...
Avanti and Fuji make good cheap track bikes if your buying new, Andrew at the Hub was also showing me a kick ass looking bike Jamis are making this season too.

Track bikes are quite twitchy though, another option would be to have some horizontal dropouts welded onto a steel road frame by someone like jeff at kiwibike, not sure how expensive that would end up though cos its not something i've ever looked into. Double Thumbs Up

Older road bikes have horizontal dropouts anyway, just gotta sort a fixed back wheel for them

It's not ideal for track racing though - in fact it can be dangerous.

By the same token, I know one or two people who've used modified road frames on the track with success.

I don't think the OP was after a bike for track racing though was he?

They do a track bike but it is a alloy frame. There was talk of a carbon pursuit bike.

Lots of stock Pinarello and Cervelo frames. Noice.

I am guessing that their 105 / Utlgera models are somewhat more than a on consignment Merida...
