Anyone know what the deal with the road that you can see going up the forest on the opposite side of the river to the current track is?

It looks like it would be a prime bit of land to develop for use for races and trailer days etc since it has the road providing shuttles.

Just wondering if the club has looked into this at all?

cheers

Was looking at that road last week. Looks promising as the road goes up quite a way and the forest follows it all the way. You could build a decent length track down it!!

yea its only a new development up there, maybe last year or two. its in the forest on the other side of the river to the current tracks
looks like a sick forest to build a shuttleable dh track that the club could run races and shuttle days on kind of like how they do in wanganui

That's all private land boys... I don't see much chance of you getting in there in the near future.

Your best chance is to get behind the local club and the council to work towards improving kloop and a possible 'other' club riding (DH) area in the pipeline.

With support from 2 keen dhrs (thanks Dean) the club has put in a combined mtb club submission to the council for future at kloop.
Kahuterawa Outdoor Recreation Plan

but we will need more input from the dh fraternity to make it happen

Hi - I believe the road on the other side of the stream is privately owned forest and the owner has had a bit of trouble over Sledge Track while the road was being built, so I suggest anything you want to do there is done with full permission.
Cheers Smile

yea i just saw it and thought it might be a good oppourtunity for the club to set up an arrangement similar to what they have in wanganui, im sure if a track was built and shuttleable then people would happily pay the money to rid. a portion of the cost would go to the land owner to pay for maintainance of the road etc.

just a thought thats all...
