 |
|
Hey there, I was just wondering. The 888rc2's i have off my kona stinky are 170mm, and i know the standard versions are 200mm. Are mine just fiddled with a bit before they get put on a stinky, and is there a way to get them to run the full 200mm? or are they pretty much a different fork and i will not be able to run them on 200mm?
I would like to run them at 200mm if it doesnt take too much hassle.
Thanks.

konas ride soo tihs with 8 inches up front cos the rear only has seven so the back always dips so it doesnt stay flat like it should my mate has a stinky with 888 atas and had to drop them to 7inch cos it rode real tihs thats why kona bikes never come with 8 inch forks hope this helps

Thank you but that is not the answer to my question.
I am considering getting a more downhill orientated frame. But i love my 888's and i would definately rather increase them to 200mm, (if i cant ill keep them and just run a 7inch fork anyway).

From memory with the RC2X forks to increase the travel you will need new damper units to make the fork 200mm, ie it will be quite expensive

Any bike designed around a 170mm fork will feel a bit different with an 203mm. In the case of the Stinky, which already has a highish front end, it's not a good thing. But those same angles make the Stinky good at what it's designed for, which is techy North Shore- type riding. So long story short, if a frame is designed around a certain length fork, don't be a drater and expect it to handle the same with a longer one.

Are you trying to call him a drater, or me?
I understand that my bike is designed around a 170mm fork, and i would hope you understood what i ment when i stated i was thinking of getting a more downhill orientated frame, ie - 8 inch travel frame designed for downhill, eg. Demo 8 or similar, designed around a 8 inch fork.
