Not really the best of races for me. I learnt the pain of racing ss on too big a gear.
While the course looked pretty tame the mud was brutal and really sucked it out of me. My tw's quickly turned to fitigtdw's
Still had fun on the downhill though which where uber slippy.

My first ever DNF which was slightly annoying. My top tube decided it no longer wanted to be mates with the seat tube and parted company half way down Hot X Buns. Fingers crossed that the warranty gods hook me up. Should do as it's only 18 months old.

I too learned that riding overgeared on a SS is absolutely no fun!
The worst was that each time I didn't make it up a pinch or climb (most of them!) my cleats got full of mud and I couldn't clip in again... so I'd ride the downhill dreadfully as well...
I've never been so glad to get to the end of a race!

Hey Monolith - re cramps, I use "New Era Mag Phos", some hippie biochemic tissue salts I got form the Chemist. I can stretch for 15 mins before a race and still get cramps, but I had these recommended.
For the first two N Duro's I took them as a preventative and had no cramps at all. This time round I started to cramp at the bottom of G Rock, took 4 tablets and the cramp was gone in 20 seconds. Its the only cramp remedy Ive used and it worked a treat as I didnt cramp for the rest of the race, so there you go.
Back to the race - I faded real bad. It was my first attempt at MTB racing with a (mild) headcold and I wont do it again. The first muddy single track parts were super fun, and I survived the climb to Billy T. Billy T and G Rock were uber super fun, but I started to fade on that climb to HXbuns, and by the chinese menu I was grovelling. Once I hit Katore road I was crawling but somehow managed to roll down to the finish. The hot pools never felt so good.
To the N-Duro crew - thanks for a great series!
