Just a quick post as we are about to leave USA for Canada where we will be in Mont Saint Anne for two weeks as Cams two cross country team mates Geoff Kabush and Mathieu Toulouse have the Canadian National Champs there next weekend and then we have the Mont Saint Anne World Cup the weekend after – more about this race to come later from me but…..

Dual Slalom was the first event and really exciting to watch, Cam made the final but had a mistake on his first run to be .7 seconds down, he could only make up .5 in the second run so ended up 2nd but he did well to get to the finals as he met the faster qualifier Eric Cater in the semi finals. So final results (excuse the spelling of some names!)

1st Mike Haderer
2nd Cam Cole
3rd Eric Carter
4th Ryan Condershoft

The downhill track was amazing, all the riders loved it. There was another race (Mountain State Cup) in Colorado so the people who went to that race definitely missed out on an awesome race here. It was dry and dusty all week and then it decided to pour down for qualifying which made for interesting times on the off camber grass sections. It dried up a wee bit by race run and was fun times. I won qualifying so was really excited for my race run – in my race run I ended up 2nd by 1.5 seconds and the girl that won the Deer Valley NORBA beat me, but I was really happy with 2nd and it topped off a fun weekend. In the men’s downhill KB (Kieran Bennett) looked great to take the win – he is riding really really well at the moment and looks good on his bike, Cam came down the hill looking fast to take 3rd spot so it was good times on the podium for the men. Cant remember the top 5 men and women for the downhill results except for the kiwis so will post that later once the official results come out.

Then the pro downhillers and cross country riders went to the top of the hill to compete against each other in the Super D race. It was a Le Mon start, and the first for Cam, KB and me. The pro men went off first and KB got the hole shot and blasted out of there to beat the xc riders to the first corner, Cam was a few riders back biding his time till the long flat start turned into downhillers terrain. As it turned out the course was more suited to xc riders with the 5 or so up hills in it and the pro giant xc rider took the win. In the pro womens class the xc riders outnumbered the 2 downhillers, Joanna Petterson and me. Jo and I got off to a good start in 1st and 3rd but about 400 meters down the track my back wheel fell out (I was on Cams dual slalom bike which is perfect for this race and a awesome little bike) so I had to walk back and take the chairlift down. On my way down the chairlift I saw KB walking his bike down (well actually his mate Armados dual slalom bike) as he had a flat tyre, and at the bottom Cam was at the finish with a front flat tyre. So all in all not such a good event for the downhillers but it was really fun and the start was so exciting, we should have Super D in NZ.

Anyway got to go pack we are leaving really soon……….have photos so will post soon!
