Approval has been given to New Plymouth Mountain Bikers to start work on the north-eastern corner of Lake Mangamahoe Forest to add two new mountain bike trails to replace those recently lost due to logging operations.

The new trails are to be about 1.7 km and 2.5 km in length and will be constructed in both the elevated section just to the north of the Samurai Set and down on the river flats adjacent to the Waiwhakaiho River.

The trails will be constructed using NPDC approved contractors Southstar Adventures from Rotorua mainly with a 1.5 tonne digger. There will also be some fallen log clearing as well.

Work is due to start on 21 July and should last approximately 5 days.

It was kind of fine on Monday, fine yesterday and only a few showers today.

How's the progress going?
