All we get in Dunners is bitterly cold gale force winds, torrential rain and sleet ( and sand at my place as the wind is ripping up the sand dunes) 
I wish we had the snow storm of '04, it actually settled and sat at sea level for about 2 1/2 days, hardly any wind neither!

Is that New Brighton Pier? You got heaps more snow than Dunners! It didn't reach sea level at all. Remember every time they feature snow in Dunedin, it shows the hill suburbs, 200 -300 Metres asl and the Northern Motorway (highest point 360 Metres asl)
Overall I think Christchurch gets more snow than Dunedin especially when you compare altitude i.e. Chch is mostly near sea level (How often do you see snow in South Dunedin?)
Personally I think I rather be in Chch, as sleet and chilled rain is not nearly as exciting as thick snow flakes
