We had a customer in the shop today with a damaged bike. When asked how the damage happened, he said a maniac knocked him off his bike and attacked him and it.
I remembered seeing a post about this here, but the posts have been lost. He had the guy charged, apparently it's the son of the owner of the golf course out there.
If the other people who have had encounters with this guy could re-count their stories here, could be handy in getting further action taken. Cheers.

I hope no-one else gets knocked about by this guy and that something gets sorted.

This just came through the tar-babies email group...
| Onslow Tar Baby wrote: | On Tuesday a friend of mine (a budding tarbaby) took a bike ride through
Karori and around to Makara in his lunch hour. (He works for the government)
Unfortunately he had a nasty mishap. The son of the Makara golf course
owner attacked him on his bike, pushing him into a ditch. He tried to attack
him further but he ran off so he attacked his bike. An engineer working on
the wind farm spotted what was going on and took my friend to the Karori
Medical Centre as he had grazed knees, a sore shoulder and was badly shaken.
The bike (not an expensive tarbaby type) was badly damaged after the chap
attacked it.
The assailant was taken by his father to the Karori Police Station and he
will be charged with assault and willful damage. (Psychological problems
were mentioned)
Apparently he has attacked other cyclists in the past but this is the first
time he has been charged.
I don't think my friend will be doing the Makara loop alone again.
Something to be said for bunch riding? |

I do like riding that loop (since it's my local), but with a chance of being attacked, I think I'll avoid it from now on

Hopefully now he's been caught, his dad will keep an eye on him. I'd say it's unlikely he'll be attacking anyone in a hurry...

Its nice to hear that is father is not trying to excuse his sons behaviour.
I hope that the son is being looked after appropriately. Mental illnesses can be quite a handful to deal with.

I recall reading on here about someone getting attacked by a man walking down Makara Hill whilst they were riding up it - Same guy perhaps? Anyone else remember that?

Yeah, the thread was unfortunately part of the 1% of posts that were lost in February

it's obviously Lucan, raised by wild dogs, just yet another canine going nuts at a bike.
