Yes, they're definitely best to strike in a way that doesn't inconvenience anyone - that's how it's usually done. Eh?

Perhaps some polite leaflet drops outside of work hours? Or a letter to their MP?

I just think a better way to protest would be something that would justify their cause in the minds of the public, rather than just stopping people from getting to work tomorrow.

What about drive to work day? Everybody who normally rides a bike or takes the bus takes their car instead. That will sort em.

Strikes are all about getting attention. Like the nurses strike. The doctors strike. Like the endless ferry strikes of the Muldoon years. Like the Waterfront Strikes.

The public inconvenience garners attention. As they say, any publicity is good publicity.

Yep, because as much as people get annoyed with the strikers, they look to govt to SORT it. And the govt has to sort it by negotiating.

It's the only way, and it's all about leverage.

Lie in the pit for an hour or two longer.

Wonder down town about 9:3 ish.

Pick up a coffee, skim the newspaper.

Roll into work some time after 10:30 muttering bloody truckers.

Doesn't seem too bad a way to start P.O.E.T.S. day to me.

A bunch of whiny little hctibes would be a better term.....

1) EVERYONE IS DOING IT HARD kcuf-KNCUCKLES.
2) You were given warning last time and that led to outright wholesale abuse of the system. Now you wanna cry about it?
3) 18 wheels really REALLY kcuf the road, if you were to do a weight/wheel comparison you'd probably find truckies don't do so bad! (not the most salient of points, I know...)
4) Truckies will just do what they usually do anyway, and pass the cost onto the consumer.

Interesting this is happening in the same week the gubberment got rail too...

No sympathy from me (in case the tone of my post hadn't got that across) Laugh Out Loud

Compared to the wild cat full on militant blockades the truckers in France use, this is all pretty tame stuff.

I am going to watch all the trucks roll past the office window, as they protest the per km tax ..... by doing nonbillable km around the cbd.
