The shocks don't really worry me - they were used by many riders in P-R - it's the angles and wheelbase that freak me out!

More trying to get the benefits of a recumbant without actually riding a recumbant.

Bauer thought that the further behind the b/b he could get the more power he could produce, but he quickly decided that the climbing and sprinting was handicapped too badly for it to be viable...

All design is a series of compromises, but that is one heck of a compromise!

Trippy looking moto. How does a front swing arm prevent compression under brakiing?

Sit at your desk in an office chair. Sit back and place your hands on the edge of the table with your elbows at your hips push away from the desk, feet on the wheels. You can bounce up and down on the chair and this won't effect the effort required to push away from the desk.
Now place your hands on the egde of the desk and lean forward in your seat so your nose is close to the screen and your elbows are at the same angle as your forks. Now push away from the desk. The bouncing up and down will effect the effort you have.
Please note: If you carry out the demontration above please don't do it naked or in a public place. If someone catches you looking at a bicycle web site doing the above it might be a little hard to explain. Blush

For some reason known only to him, Josh Barley wanted me to find a shot of this bike months ago. I was searching for an old Peugeot catalogue for Scatter and finally stumbled on these shots of what must be one of the nuttier ideas for a Paris-Roubaix bike...

The concept is probably more applicable to a general purpose unit than a high performance roadie. Like me missus' birthday pressie for example...
