Anyone know if we can still make a pledge, or what the easiest way is to donate to Simon's charity?

I never got round to doing it before the race started, but following it has been such damn good entertainment and inspiration that I feel I'd like to contribute Double Thumbs Up

I've got some on my fridge which I'll get to him upon his return. PM me if you want me to write one up for you Smile

Here's a link to the Tour Divde leaderboard. These sick puppies started a week earlier up in Canada somewhere. Simon's recently passed Mary Collier in near Silverthorne Colorado... http://www.tourdivide.org/leaderboard

Tuesday evening

Jenn called from Hartsel at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and said she had a good day, riding 120 miles with "happy legs." She stopped for a while in Breckenridge, but the break worked out because she missed a passing storm and followed it up a pass.

Simon called from Silverthorne at 7 p.m. Tuesday and said he had atough time finding his way through Frisco. He was caught in a thunderstorm but said it was a refreshing change from the heat. He was planning to ride to Salida on Wednesday.

Ryan McHale called from Rawlins at 9 p.m. and said things were going well.

David Blaine is out

David Blaine called at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Yampa Vally Medical Center in Steamboat Springs, where he'd spent the past 24 hours. He stayed in town because he wasn't feeling well, and went to the hospital when his sickness became progressively worse. He said he had a fever of 104 and could hardly move. "As soon as I can stand up, I'm going home. It's been a great race up until this point and good times." David sounded upbeat even as he made this call from the hospital. Great effort, David.

Jenn called from Salida at 12:10 p.m. After eating a good meal and going to the bike shop, Jenn said Salida was another place she didn't want to leave. She was feeling really apprehensive about the stretch to Del Norte because she was worried about the heat. She hoped to ride 100 more miles from Salida, but said that might be a bit optimistic given how warm it was.

Interesting to see Simon's progress in comparison to Jen. When he stayed on at Atlantic "City", she opened up a 15 hour gap at the next control. Then it drops to 10 (130 miles later), and then 8 (115 miles later). So it looks like Simon is picking up 2 hours per 120 miles. And the race is so long, he'll catch her for sure!!!! Crazy

Yeah - now I'm not so impressed by Simon's endurance as his ability to keep a pair of shorts running that long. I mean, it's got to be at least 10 years since DBR shorts first saw the light of day Smile

Wednesday afternoon

Carl Hutchings called from Del Norte at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday, saying he was going to get something to eat and "head up over this pass that everyone's told me horror stories about."

Rainier called from Del Norte at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday (He said it was 5:45, but the time stamp marked it as an hour later.) He left Poncho Springs early in the morning and headed over Marshall Pass. Later in the day, he ran into Mike Curiak in the area and talked with him for a while. He had a flat that cost him some time, but said he was otherwise feeling strong.

Simon called from Salida at 5:50 p.m. and was planning to head up over Marshall Pass. "Hopefully the weather holds," he said. "It's a bit changeable at the moment, but that's cool; it reminds me of home."

Fred Wilkinson called from Silverthorne at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
