Classy response. |
An update for those following this warranty saga.. I live in hope!
Still waiting on a reply from Kona after letting them know that I kept the fox float @ around 205psi so as to provide for 0.4" or 10mm of sag in the shock as per the owners manual. Nothing out of the ordinary there.
I am not crying on Vorb, just seeking advice and wishing to hear if others have had the same or similar warranty response from Kona. I have not berrated Bike Barn, but as the NZ distributor of Kona who have an International Warranty policy I am a little disappointed in their support.
Freedom of speech is a great thing, that's why most of us participate in forums. I for one will be checking many forums for actual warranty support before buying my next bike. KONA can still come through with the goods and I will remain a happy KONA customer / rider as the bike has been great thus far.
I still hope that KONA come to the party as this is a legit warranty claim on a KONA bike purchased from the Kona Singapore Distributor while I lived in Malaysia. KONAs international warranty procedure is to return the bike to the local distributor where you live, regardless of where it was purchased. I checked this with KONAWORLD.com prior to making this warranty claim and Bike Barn were happy to process the claim. as of today, Bike Barn are now suggesting that I pursue the claim through the Singapore Distributor - nice.
Bike Barn Mt Roskill (Bike Barn HQ and Distribution / warranty centre) is where I took the bike under warranty, so if SIXDOG is not an employee there, then Bike Barn Mt Roskill have been sharing information regarding a customers unique circumstances with people who need to grow up a little.
It is now up to KONA to work through the detail and honor the warranty.

They (bike barn) replaced the front triangle on the one (02 manomano-same as a Kikapu) I know of that broke (cracked at the seat tube/top tube weld). Then, the rear chainstay (rear got swapped onto the new front triangle) broke six months later.
These got replaced again, but he had had enough of the bike so the frame got swapped for something better.
So yes, they did honor the warranty in the case that I know about.

Guppy, from what I've read here, I think Bike Barn have done the right thing. They obviously helped with the initial process, Kona HQ have declined the warranty - there is not much more they can do.
Sure, if you had bought the bike in NZ, they'd probably help more due to the CGA. As this is not the case, they are most likely recommending you contact the Singapore distributor as you may have more leverage there.
