Hi,

Before I take this issue in to a bike shop for repair (as it is under warranty)

When I pedal hard out in top gear down a sealed road, then stop pedalling, the chain /derailleur seems to stick slightly and get slack.

It feels like the derailleur has lost it's tension.

Any ideas what would cause this and can it be fixed easy enough at home?

Does it just do the 'slightly sticking' thing once, or over again and again as you're coasting along?
Im wondering if its a freewheel problem

Do you have a big fat velcro chainstay protector on there?
(Chain hanging up on there only in the smallest rear cog?)

indeed, it could be a sticky freehub, or maybe the rear mech isn't quite tuned right so its binding the chain just for a fraction of a second under back pedaling

I'd go and talk to the mechanic at my LBS Double Thumbs Up

im going to go with dented on this one, its most likely freehub drag.

some hubs are more norpe than others, although they all do it eventually.

in most cases a service will sort them out
