SO TRUE.

might I mention that the Makara Peak Supporters is a REAL environmental group, having planted about 35000 trees, gotten rid of 98% of possums, the list goes on.
And made some grouse tracks for all to enjoy.

gee this soap box is good Smile

I had to laugh when I got a DM piece in the mail from them saying "Residints of Johnsonville and surrounding suburbs will be able to see the Makera Wind Farm"

Bloody hell!, how tall do you think these things are. LOL

Well as a resident of wadestown I'll be able to see them.

If I climb all the way to the top of the skyline saddle above crofton downs. Still - that's only 40 minutes away.

My god. I'm only 40 minutes riding away from having my eyes assaulted by the sight of carbon-neutral energy being generated.

Now that I live in wadestown I can see the turbine - when I was in brooklyn I couldn't. It's much better this way, as I can work out how windy it's going to be up in the gully, and whether it's going to be possible to hit the jumps on the resource consent track.

I think that all areas with jumps should have turbines for just this purpose.

If the resource consent includes rounding up the goats ( as it should) I can see little wrong with this idea at all.
Except for a bunch of trucks during construction..
But that would be nothing comapred to the destruction caused by a dam, or the insanity of a nuclear power station in NZ..
