and woah, what a difference!

Can't believe how much of the world I was missing out on. Colours are brighter & the amount of detail is unbelievable, kinda like those Hi-def freeview adds where they clean the TV screen with a giant squeegee!

Also hard to believe how easy the whole process is:

40mins of tests, 1x Valium pill, 40seconds of pretty lights per eye & a slight burning smell = 20/20 vision! (well after 1/2 hour anyway)

Wife watched the whole thing on a tv screen in the next room & still held her lunch down, don't think I would have after seeing the whole procedure!

Was able to watch a movie that night & even drive home the next day. Have to refrain from sport for a week tho (dammit, all I wanna do right now is hit the trails!)

If anyone here wears glasses or contacts and is considering it I'd fully recommend they look into it more.

This is the crowd I went thru: http://www.eyeinstitute.co.nz/ really recommend them.

If anyone is interested, I can offer a $200 off referral voucher. I've got a lot out of this forum & thought I'd try to give something back.

Four sleeps then I'm back on the bike.... sweet!

I hope this doesn't affect your joke telling ability...

A colleague had this done a few years ago, and was and still is, thrilled with the outcome Smile

My Dads old boss had it done and he came to work a days or so later with different coloured shoes on, same style, but one was brown and one was black Laugh Out Loud

Settles down after a while tho', i'm still dubious until its been around for another 20 years or so, it doesn't always give you 20/20 and you will still need glasses in later life...

Best thing I ever did.

I had the older procedure (the one that's been around for 20 years Wink ) PRK..... that's the one that take the layer of cells of the top of the cornea rather than LASIK's cutting a flap and taking cells from there.
PRK apparently hurts more than LASIK but there's slightly less risk (flap detachment). I had to have PRK because my funky corneas precluded LASIK.

It cos me $2200 per eye. That includes all your treatments, followups, drugs and "touch-ups" later on if required.

I was -4 (left eye), -3 (right eye) with astigmatism in both.
12 months down the track I still have better than 6/6 vision.

I had one eye done at a time. Both done on a Wednesday, I was back riding at the track (racehorses) on the Monday (with eye protection!)

Wife had Lazik surgery done on both eyes 3 years ago. She had been wearing glasses for 14 years prior to that.
In her words, The best thing she ever did.
