im going overseas to ride next week, wanna get some cool footage and thought this angle would be sick.
does anyone know what to mount the helmet camera to? and can it be bought or do you have to make it yourself?

Big pole stuck on top of helmet, dh_winner made a vid like this a while back, need to stick a bit o' weight on the other end of the pole to balance it.

Try using PVC conduit to gaffer the lipstick cam to...the PVC offers light weight and can be bent readily to suit the required angle.
I've used PVC with the anchored end shaped into a triangle similar to a coathanger and wedged firmly into a backpack with the camcorder.
Works a treat

found conduit was waaay to flexy and gave ya motion sickness watching it. I went down to mitre 10 and got a piece of 25mm alloy tube. Used an old helmet and the bits holding the tube are actually seatpost mounts for rear reflectors, superglued on the helmet. works a treat. You do need a counterbalance over the back though (we used a heavy ratchet) and you end up with a sore neck after a run because of the weight.

Looks like some kind of suicide jousting rig. I'd hate to snag it on a branch!

yea i guess it could be used for jousting. I was more worried about catching it on a tree as i go round a corner! Im pretty sure the mounts would break before you neck did tho.

I made one of those rigs a while back for a vid I did (after seeing your vid which rules)
I used a metal pole , that extended just past arms reach in front of the helmet , then about half that out the back , I used most of a role of gaffer tape (cloth tape) to secure it and a metal spanner and the battery pack for the pencil cam to counter weight ,works a treat.
