I knew 18 months ago that BoXXer was a likely candidate for Mission control. And it would have bigger legs, but obviously couldn't say anything.
It's about time, back to adjustments available in gen 1 and 2 BoXXers, just without having to completely disassemble it to adjust high speed compression. |
Mr Chickenman, do you reckon the new one wil be able to reduce to 7"?

Obviously the new fork model numbers, those can't be words. WEA = Weather Externally Actuated? The fork reacts to weather conditions?

If its solo air still it will be a piece of ssip to reduce the travel, just a spacer under the air piston

Dirt has about 4 pages on these and other black box stuff. For now they'rejust trying it but the main changes are 34mm legs, mission control and ditching the solo air.

From what I understand, its something to do with the bigger stanchions of the Lyric and Totem. There is more air volume inside the 35 & 40mm forks so the increase of pressure inside the fork is less when compared to the 32mm boxxer, especially when comparing the air sprung versions.
This makes the bigger forks more linear so being able to control the high speed compression is a big advantage and stops it blowing through too much travel. The Boxxer is naturally more progressive due to less air volume inside it so externally adjustable High speed compression damping wasn't as important. (you could still change it internally though )
Note: I may be completely wrong, I remember being told something along those lines by SRAM though, can't remember the details but thats how it seems to me |
Very true. Its in that dirt issue ive got sitting by me here. Hence the reason RS dont make a DH air shock. Yet.
I thought i posted a big blurb about it somwhere....
