I was running 2:1 (28,14) on my Rukas uf, but when I swapt out for 24"s I had to gear it up a bit, now it's a 30,14.

i run 38:16, works good for me cos i like to dh my bike a little too, everyone else that rides my bike thinks its too hard but i just call them unfit :P its a good gear if youve got strong legs, im thinking about going to 36 though cos its too big for the chain to be shortened right so i can tension it upwards, hopefully it will work well, make sure you get proper SS rings, i need one for the front cos its wearing out but the thick rear ring is mint

Anything around 2:1 is mint, so 25:12 would be pretty sweet if you can run micro drive, other wise 32:16 is good Double Thumbs Up

depends on peoples pedalling style, I like to spin quite a bit and the easier gear gives better acceleration. Some people just don't have enough leg speed though and can't get enough speed from 2:1

I have a another question. I havnt brought my cranks yet, but i want to run a transition 28t sprocket (check out the link) when i do and I wana know if a sprocket like that would run on your normal crank like a truvativ one, or do you have to get bmx cranks?? that have that bolt on the arm. Cheers

BMX cranks, although im not completely certain. If you are singlespeeding, why not use bmx cranks anyway? They are stronger, in some cases lighter, and last for a loooong time (profile etc). on a (26"?) mtb a 28t sprocket is silly, you would have to have at least an 11 on the back, so that cancels out freewheels, conversion kits and leaves bmx hubs (which can be spaced to 135 easily) and 1 piece driver cassette mtb hubs like a halo DJD. youchoose, id go for the bmx hub for reliability. OR if you have aheap of money profile make a singlespeed hub.

Yes he will need BMX cranks and a 28t is fine, even 26t would be sweet for the complete micro-drive, bmx look as cogs go down to 13t so you can still get 2:1

Sweet as. Yea 28t will be fine cos i got a 14t ss freewheel hub alrdy, so if i run 28t, that will give me 2:1 ratio which seems to be what every one recommends.
