What something is worth is only equal to what someone is wiilling to pay for it. Not everyone has $1k sitting in their back pocket either so it may take a few weeks, be patient.

Maybe take it in to your LBS for a service/cleanup, i can see a few things in that photo that would put me off a bit from a condition point of view.

The chain looks rusty, the missing barend with dirt in makes it look like its been thrown around, and the slammed seat screams 'i used this for DH/jumps'. Cleaning the dirt off your hubs etc would make all the difference too, make it look well looked-after.

Its amazing what difference giving the bike a really good clean can do to it. As the others have said, get rid of dirt from handlebars, wash the thing well, fix the rusty bolts, etc etc.

Remove the cruddy chainstay protector - show off the nice clean chainstay (assuming you put it on when it was new?).

I've bought second hand bikes (why ever buy new when old will do???) and managed to talk a couple of hundered off the asking price by pointing out things like rusty bolts (bike not cleaned and dried properly),holes in seat, or scratches and knicks in funny places.

For photos of the bike, give it a spray with WD-40 (the frame, bars, seatpost, not the rotors or brakes Crazy ), leave it for a few mins, and wipe it off. The shine it brings up is impressive. Do the same before people come to view the bike.

If you 'dress it up' enough, you can make mutton look a lot like lamb Wink. Worth the extra effort if it gets you the sale, or a few hundered bucks extra.

In at MTB Action Mag this year there was an article about selling your bike...the how to's..

Great cleaning, and good photos seem to be the main ones. and small repairs are worth doing too.
But everyones said that..eh
