Bike weighs 30lb (13.6kg). Planning to lighten it up with a change of wheels and smaller brake rotors.
The DHXair definately feels more plush compared to the RP23. Had to get some sort of internal bumper fitted by Blueshark as the 06 shock had 5mm more travel so back wheel hit the Rr derailleur cable. Seems to work fine now.
It feels like a lighter bike than it is. Also climbs better with the Fox36R than the Heckler did.
Not quite sure how the SL model is stiffer than the standard frame - they look identical to me, apart from anodised linkages and paint finish? |
they ether add more glass or carbon, or lay it up a diff way

Changes geometry, other way around will lower the BB/slacken head angle

going back to bobs intense, if you ran the shift cable down the down tube and under your chainstay tube, you won't get any ghost shifting or cable scuff at full travel. Looks tidier too

Will be losing the reflectors and I have a Rohloff hub that I will use on the rear. May also get set of Z150's that I have floating around but will see, the floats feel ok for the moment. |
Some updated photos of my new Reign. This is just before I took it for its 1st ride, and after installing the Rohloff. Was only Woodhill as it had been raining all day an all the other tracks near Auckland are clay so not the best after a night of heavy rain. Anyway I love the ride of this bike. Its easy to pedal, the weight is good, handles amazingly, and seems to jump well. I am still considering putting the Z150s on it as they are a stiffer fork, but I really like the Fox Floats. I am also surprised by the brakes, I have read that they are the weak point of this bike, but they are great. The best part is the weight difference before and after adding the Rohloff hub it is 200g so next to nothing (I could stand to lose 5-10kg so nothing in the scheme of things. Anyway just to say again I love this bike.
