Doubt it.
We had our bikes on the train from Paraparaumu one day - then when we got to tawa we were told we had to get off the train and get on a bus which would take us to wellington - but we had bikes so we had to ride from Tawa to Makara. NOT COOL.
So the answer is no - no bikes on busses.
But I spose there is no harm in trying?? The worst they can say is NO!

Yeah ive encountered a similer problem trying to go out to the hutt. even though the busses are replacing trains they still wont take ya bike (although one time i was lucky, the bus drive interrupted the bossy train lady and said he'd take my bike! )

how about taking the wheels off first
My mate managed to get a bike frame with forks attached, handlebars derailers ETC. the whole lot, and a rear wheel onto a bus by carrying it. Ive taken many wheels on busese before, and they probably would'nt even know what it was without thinking about it if they saw a frame with forks.

i know (through my job) the owner of the buses (well at least the owner of the biggest bus company). i shall email them tomorrow and ask where this is at as i know there was a proposal about it.
the idea was to install racks on buses, however there was a safety issue i recall (ie -rear endings) and the rack going through a car or another bus window.
That said, on buses there are usually lockers underneath (not so sure on innercity buses) where they can be stowed.
so rest in peace until i report back.
and its not so bad to get to MP from Tawa. go via Ohariu Gorge. no need to do all the ups and downs the croften downs route offers.

Don't be such lazy buggers - from Haitaitai to Karori isn't far - even at a very sifty pace it would be 40 mins MAX...
think of it as a warm up
