I thought it was very telling about the man.

Yeah me too - has he stepped down from dare-devilling?

While that was a massive jump, he made it look so easy - cleared it by heaps.

Thinking about modern bikes, it's a shame they didn't show Mike Metzgers (sp?) backfilp of the Ceasers Fountain, just to show how far things have really come.

I will give Evel credit for one thing.

He took being a knuckle dragging misogynistic carny freak show attraction and turned it into a HUGE money spinner.

He was always going to have a fall from grace in public. Marketing himself to kids and preaching a drug free lifestyle, yet allegedly showing up to very public events like the Wembley jump very hung over and in the company of women other than his wife. Also allegedly not taking his craft particularly seriously, lining the Wembley jump up by thumb and telling the crew to move the ramp, as well as not checking out the bike before hand.

There are a fair few Seth and Bender types out there. All glory and balls and short on self control. Met a few back in my video days. Evel paved the path of being able to make a living out of it.

Robbie Knievel had done all the things his Dad SAID he was gonna do but could not deliver on.

Jumped further, jumped from building to building, jumped the Grand Canyon, jumped the Ceasers Palace Fountains without putting himself in a coma.
He's got just as big a crazy streak, but has been a lot smarter about it from a self preservation standpoint. Probably has not made anywhere near the same money though.

I only came into it over half way through I think it was, totally missed all the toys and the Canyon jump. Such a shame really, I'd had every intention of seeing the whole thing.

And almost at times as if Hamond was really struggling with it ??
Again, have to agree with others here, Hard seeing your childhood hero so cut down to size.

I will give his old man the nod for stylish crashes and being able to wear a leather jumpsuit while being totally hetro.
