I'm posting this so others don't have the same problem. I purchased an 'air kiss' brand c02 inflator the other day, have used it a few times and it is pretty niggily...then tonight was inflating a tubeless tyre and it wouldn't work at all. I did the stupid thing of looking down the barrel (not while activating it mind you), I was about 20cm away from it, and BANG the thing goes off, right eye now out of action for a while. Hurts a bit too, reckon I'll have a shiner if I'm lucky...

Just a word to the wise - don't be stupid and look down the barrel, and don't use the product! I'm off to buy a slightly higher qaulity one...

I feel like an idiot.

Bugger, I thought this was going to be about some one stupid enough to put the end of a compressor in their mouth and pull the trigger.

I doubt very much that he is serious. It wasn't totally the fault of the inflator - while it has been behaving 'erratically' (completly discharging cylinders for no reason, randomly banging off shots, not sealing properly) I should have known that and been smarter than to look down the barrel.

Like that trick you do on your little sister, crimp the garden hose in one hand, tell her to look down the end of it cause something is in there, then uncrimp the hose.

In my case it was simply a bit of darwinian selectionism going on I think Paranoid
