highway 27 via tahuna..at matamata turn left onto highway 24 toward tauranga, right turn at te poi sign straight ahead thru te poi..straight thru crossroad, and then straight again at Rotorua sign..fast tar seal road comes out just before fitzgerald glade.
2 hr 50 to whakarewarewa carpark from forest hill yesterday going slow at 85-90kms.

Ah, yeah. My bad. That's the way I meant. Didn't realise 27 doesn't meet 5.

i think highway 27 meets highway 1 at Tirau..then u drive a couple of kms to start of 5. The way i sed is faster.
