I saw 3 cars parcked a the grapefruit sign last night with bikes being unloaded. Anyone from the forum? Any times to post?
Quite a few roadies up there last night as well.

Might have been a few locals putting in some hill repeats before the flyer this weekend.

I think I'm going to have to start parking there too. By the time I get home from work and bike even the most direct route to Welcome Bay, I only have about 20 mins light left. I've conscientiously done laps of Reid Road and Waitao Road virtually every day since November and it's made a gnikcuf mammoth difference strength wise now it's all going to go to waste but I have to stay strong to do K2 in November without dying.

Curse this otherwise dead flat town with it's serious lack of decent street lighting!

Watch out fraserb!

I take back my rant; trying in vain to fit in a decent ride before the sun sets does have some advantage..

Wow! Well done. I saw you said something the other day about riding this hill almost every day since last November, I figured you must have a decent time to post up soon Double Thumbs Up

Depending how tomorrow pans out, Im gonna head up there after work and maybe put in 2 or 3 laps.

Well that was a fail. Still had some good riding today, did the big loop (both sides of the road) at Summerhill at lunchtime, then went out for over an hour around the walkways and stuff later in the day with #1 . Sweet!

Well, I blew the cobwebs off my Roadbike today. Hasnt seen the light of day since early March. Headed straight over there from my place near Bayfair, determined to go up and down twice.
First time, was up at the big house at #197 in 6.04, stayed seated all the way and hit the top in 11.40
Not too bad Im thinking only 15 seconds away from where I was at my peak over Summer.
Burned on down to the bottom and turned around to go up again.
Got to the big house at #197 in, wait for it, 6.04 again!
Could I keep up the tempo?
Having the carrot on the handlebars was all it needed in the end, for a standing sprint up the last rise. 11.36
Legs were a bit fried into the headwind home after that, good fun.

Good stuff! You must be stoked with that considering you haven't ridden for 3 months!

Which house is 197? Do you mean the one that's straight ahead when on the flat part (when you're going up) or the white house a bit further up on the right ?

Its only that particular bike I havent ridden in ages, I have still been getting out once or twice a week regularly on mountain bikes.

#197 is the big new house on the left with the view, as you get into that false flat halfway up (well, slightly past halfway according to the times)
