so you did the half (presumably because you too are not fit) - yet you're off asking about getting sponsored in another thread?
I think you need a reality check

Hey Danose, wakerider is my 14yr old son and yes perhaps some of his posts show his age and naivety but they also show his keeness. He's not constantly on a playstation. He's out there giving MTBing a go and that is good.
Just because he didn't ride the full 90km last year doesn't make him unfit. He rode in a mixed age team with me and even to do so needed dispensation from the organiser as he was under the 14yr minimum age. His section time last year if ridden as an individual rather than teamed with me would have given him 2nd in under18s. Not bad for a 13yr old !
Why's he keen to attract sponsorship or any support ?
1) Because he doesn't attend a elite private school that is interested in cycling and has coaching. He attends a high school that barely even to recognises cycling as a sport, let alone support it. Some form of sponsorship may come with guidance and coaching.
2) He's currently riding a used bike we picked up for for just $150. Almost anything would be an upgrade and an after school bike shop job would get him there quicker than the current pamphlet rounds.
3) Because he likes MTBing and he's prepared to get out there and do it without relying on Mum and Dad to provide flashy equipment as most other kids do.
And for the record, this year we placed 2nd in mixed age team with his section time likely (can't be certain has no transponder change time recorded) being good enough if ridden as individual to be 1st under 18 and 2nd or 3rd overall regardless of age.

Good call dad!!
I wish my old boy did that for me. I cant wait until my son is old enough to ride with me, that will be sweet.
