For a number of years a small group of people have put their heart and
soul into developing the track that we have today.
Unfortunatly these people have now moved on and there really needs to be
some people to fill in the void.

Ideally it would be great if a group of locals got together every so often
and did a little work on the track.

If you are interested you will need to talk to Craig Cotteral, he is the
council ranger and a keen Mountain Biker and is very keen for the track to
be developed and will pretty much give you what ever you want to get it
done.

There is also a good number of keen kids that are willing to work on the track But they really need someone a little older with a bit of expierance to guide them.

Its easy to say its the councils track and they should fix , but they dont
build good riding tracks only expierianced Downhillers are going get the
job done right.

So if you have any interest in making the Maidstone track better then Email Craig Cotteral : craig.cottrill[at]uhcc.govt.nz

Alternatly have a look here for the work done reciently: http://www.vorb.org.nz/ftopict-66403-.html

Yer there is around 5 or so people from the HIBS MTB club that would be keen to help, and there is quite a few other kids round the hutt that are keen, so if any older person does put themselves forward to give some direction etc there is help around.

What stage are plans at now? Obviously this thread has been dormant for a while but it seems its stil fairly relevent.

After having a blast on the rotorua trails recently its opened my eyes to the need for some more well built trails in well. DH and freeride trails that is.

so if there are currently working bees planned or people need more energy to organise things myself and a few of the guys from the vic mtb club would be keen im sure.

The Wellington MTB Club will be running some dig days up there in the near future.

I dont know how the tree felling is going, as I have been busy at work and havent been able to keep in touch with the council. I will endevour to find out how it is going, and an estimated time of departure so we can get in to rebuilding the track.
