Calendar Event: May 31, 2008
Attendees: 80% Chance(1) - 60% Chance(1) - Total: 2 - Expected: 1 - View

We have a small group (3!) heading up to Craigieburn for the 31st (was the 24th but canceled due to snow warnings) of the month and would like more to join us.

This will be our first ride here- so people with some knowledge of the trails would be appreciated (and paid with beer and pizza Big Grin)

Weather permitting of course. If this date is a wash out- we plan to go the following weekend.

As for meeting up- maybe we just meet there early for 8.30ish -Bring food, warm gear, water and a bike that works Wink If people need a lift- shout out and we will try and work something out.

I think thats all ...... Crazy

Rain forecast for the next few days. Might drop a bit of snow at the top actually...

Craigieburn drains pretty quickly, but personally I would probably leave it at least 2 or 3 days to dry after rain so that I did not cut the tracks up too much.

Metvuw tends to overpredict rain for Craigieburn
http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast.php?type=rain&region=nzsi&noofblahblahblah

Met Service
http://www.metservice.co.nz/default/index.php?alias=rainfcst_7daytas

To be honest I only use long forecasts to give me an idea of what the weather may do. I dont really put much faith in predictions more than 2 days in advance...

To see what the weather has actually been doing up there (and to check out the weather on the day) these guys have webcams and weather data from Castle hill village http://www.castlehill.net.nz/webcam.htm

The weather over the hill can often be nice when it is parc here in Chch. Especially if it is a drizzly kind of southerly... it can often be glorious sunshine up there when like that here in town.

This is when the webcam comes in handy!!

Yeah, we often find if it's parc in christchurch it will be nice out there and the other way round.
