Is anybody keen to get together for a ride (DH/FR) in the wairarapa area?
There is one fairly good DH trail on Mt kcid, off Dalefield road (near carterton).
I have spent sometime to upgrade and re-groom this trail, which had been built previously by an unknown party. This trail is in reasonable condition now, more work needed thou. Theres a few features on this trail: step down, 20' double, step up to roll down, a couple of wooden kickers.

This trail is shuttle-able.
That's sounding pretty damn interesting - how long is it? What sort of shuttling turn around?
Interesting,Whats the ride/push to the top like?.I get over there for work every now and then so could be keen.Might even be worth a special trip over the hill.

The entrance to the track is quite hard to find
about halfway to 2/3rds up the hill there is a little indent into the forest that goes up a hill and then there is a little clearing and the track is off to the right at the opposite end
like i said it is quite hard to find and my directions aren't the best but just hunt around and you'll find it

The trail takes about 4 mins to ride down. The road is in excellent condition.....this road leads up to the mt kcid lookout which is popular with the locals.
There is certainly alot of potential in this area for MTB trails. I have spoken with DOC, who are okay with MTBing in the area so long as any trails built are co-ordinated within a group.

it is above the hair pin
all i know is:
I went up the the road out of the pine trees so i could see the top then went round a few more corners then a hairpin and went back into another short section of pine trees then came out of the pine trees and went in to a little indent off to the right of the rod up on to a a little grassy area and went to the far end on the right and the track dived off to my right down the hill
still not to good directions but better than the last ones
hey i live 2 or 3 minutes away from Mt kcid by brices house. are you building a new dh track comming down the other side? if you ever need any help some mates and i will be willing to help you.
Mt kcid is being logged. this might take sometime before they are finished . The road up is closed from time to time depending on what part is being cleared . Sorry if you have done some work on the tracks up there as they will be destroyed soon. But there will be plenty of new ones when they are finished . May need a hand to make more if all goes to plan.
There is some good riding on the other side.. Up the Waihine Gorge . Bit more of a climb .
